This year at Coleman we are implementing a new positive behavior system. What is PBIS? Positive Behavior Intervention Support (PBIS) supports students by explicitly teaching students what is expected of them at school. Often adults assume kids know what to do and what is expected of them when frequently no one has explained what students are supposed to do or why. School-wide PBIS focuses on proactive procedures to prevent problem behavior for students and improve school climate by explaining what the correct behavior should be in the classroom, restrooms or lunch area - to name a few examples. While we have explicit expectations for behavior - a full matrix, which we will explain at Back-to-School-Night, we have just a few positively stated rules that facilitates the teaching and consistency of behavioral expectations across school settings.
Coleman's School-Wide Rules:
1. I Am Respectful
2. I Am Responsible
3. I Am A Learner
What better to do than read when the days get short and weather gets cool? Come to Coleman School library for a story time on Saturday, March 21 at 9:30 – 11:00 a.m. Children of all ages and parents are invited to listen to stories and participate in rhymes in the Coleman library, followed by crafts and a snack in one of our first grade classrooms.
Free Money for Coleman
Pennies and dimes add up in a big way - close to $15,000 a year! We make it happen every day in different ways - box tops, recycled cans, Script, Dine and Donate, and out partners below. Help us! It's super easy.
Box Tops for Education - Thanks for everyone who clipped box top labels, collected them from neighbors and had grandmas send them. We bundled up $273 dollars worth and mailed them Monday. Please collecting them. The next batch gets mailed late March 2015.
United Market - Pick up a United Market card in the office and show it every time you shop at United. Coleman receives over $6,000 a year from United through the Scrip program! Please support our generous partner.
Amazon Smile - If you shop on Amazon, be sure to register for Amazon Smile at smile.amazon.com and select Coleman Elementary School PTO as the organization you want donations to go to. That's it, afterwards every time you shop on Amazon .5% of your eligible purchase price will be donated to Coleman (remember, it ALL adds up!)
Target Red Card - If you have a Target Red Card (or you are considering getting one) you can register your card and designate Coleman to receive 1% of your purchases. Ask friends and family to do the same.
