Summer Reading Program - we want all children at Coleman reading this summer! Study after study has shown that children who do not read over the summer lose up to three months of reading proficiency - while children who do read over the summer can gain up to a month of proficiency--better results than Summer School!.

Sign up for a San Rafael public library card before the summer break! Go online to San Rafael Public Library, click on services, then "apply for a new library card" - or go the library at 5th and E Streets to apply in person. Your library card gives you access to books, audiobooks, music cds, movies and more. In addition, you and your child can access online reading programs, online encyclopedias and nonfiction books, and free language learning programs. Check out the "Discover and Go" program where you can reserve free or reduced price admissions to many Bay Area museums as well.

Deputy Superintendent Rebecca Rosales to Lead Human Resources

Superintendent of Schools Dr. Michael Watenpaugh announced that Deputy Superintendent Rebecca Rosales would take responsibility for the district’s Human Resources Division, effective immediately.

This past March, former Executive Director for Human Resources Kathleen McClure announced her resignation from this position, effective June 30, 2014.  The District posted and interviewed for this administrative vacancy. A suitable and qualified candidate was not identified.

The district’s new fiscal year began on July 1, 2014.  To fill this vital position, and ensure the District has all vacant positions filled when school begins in August, Deputy Superintendent Rosales will fill this critical district need and provide administrative oversight for the District’s Human Resource operations.
